And the series continues. Taken during 2002 Fremont Trollaween festivities on Halloween (Fremont, Washington). As with most of my shots, unposed (subject was unaware of my presence); believe I was at ~185-195mm on the lens. I had such a blast at this event. Great group of people.
Russ and Kim: Thank you very much. This is one of my favorite shots from that night (ok ok..I like sparkly things).
Russ: Trollaween is the annual Fremont community Halloween performance/parade/party/get-together put on by the Fremont Arts Council. It's named for and begins at the great and omnipotent Troll beneath the Fremont bridge (huge sculpture lurking under the bridge; it grasps in its powerful hand a real Volkswagon Beetle that got just a little too close -- will have to post photos of that). During the performance portion of the event (which lasted about an hour), all of the lighting is done with fire (propane and traditional torches, claws with the tips on fire, flaming hoops, fire breathers, etc). After the performance, the Haunt begins ... everyone (performers and crowd) parades through Fremont with huge torches and much drum beating and dancing. There are several performances around the town (all dealing with fire) and the parade leads to the Troll-a-go-go, the big Halloween party.
This is great... coming out of the darkness... it looks like it should be a studio shot. Love the detail on the dress, and how it glitters in the light.
I'm not sure what "Trollaween" is, but it looks like one heck of a party! I like the effects you was able to capture with this film and available light! Great job! Later my friend,
