About The contrast between the trees, minding their own business and looking beautiful year after year, and the busy people who need to put a CLOCK there just struck me as really strange.

Wow, Ian, you have been trawling the old stuff, getting on for three years ago. Did you find it from the "random photos" on the RHS? I've since seen clocks like this is other odd places in Japan... But it still strikes me as completely incongruous!

great composition and excellent tonal range. Bet this looks good in colour too. Think I would crop a little off the foreground to give greater emphasis to the clock and trees.

I realize that it was a lamp post in Narnia but for some reason this image reminds me of the idea I felt when we found a lamp post in the middle of a mythical setting.

For a moment, I considered you should use your vertical panorama with this but then we lose the width and I think we need the width to create weight and a sense of place in this image.

I do wish that the person were not in this shot...personal preference I am sure.

Top shot. The wonderful rendering of the leafs is nice, but this clock (one cannot imagine how it came here ?) is both salt and pepper for the composition. Great !
