This young hawk swooped down in front of me and grabbed a chimpmunk, then back up to the tree, I watched him and he watched me. I managed to get a few shots of him.
Mark, the three photos you posted all looked badly washed out. I don't know if this is due to your scanner, or if you have used an image manipulation program incorrectly. I took this image, boosted the levels, and curves a bit, and made it more saturated. Of course, it would be better if you did this to the original scan before turning it into a jpeg (because each change you make, and then save to jpeg will cause loss of data).
It is always difficult to capture the true essence of birds of prey as they do not like being watched. This is a good capture of his attitiude but the colours are washed right out.. too bad as this is a great looking bird and the feathers need some saturation to bring out the details.
