Frank, I'd suggest cropping out the closest streetlight as it's too bright and doesn't add to the shot. I've attached my interpretation. Have you tried this without the filter? The reason I ask is that with many cameras, the apperture diagphram will cause the same effect as the light refracts around the edge of the metal blades. There's a picture near the start my portfolio called Solitude where you can see the effect.
Rob.
I also was looking at Cokin filters on the Internet recently and noticed they have a solution for Digital cameras. I havn't looked at as I don't have a digital but perhaps you should. www.cokin.com
Yes I know on some of the canon cameras they don't take filters. I had a couple of them a20 and s40. I would use software to get your effect. I like using filters on the camera and I use them quite a bit now with mine. Just keeping experimenting and you'll come up with the idea and shot.
Hi Frank, Personally, I would suggest to get rid of the starfilter. The effect is a bit too much. Maybe it'll work to place the filter a bit further away from the lens, but I'm not sure if that would work.... I took the liberty of decreasing the colour saturation quite a bit. What's the dark spot in the sky just left of the street light on the right? Can it be a finger....:)
