About I was on my way to Mussouri via Hardwar , Uttaranchal on a business trip. These pilgrims are taking the holy waters from the Ganges river to their respective towns on the occassion of the Shivratri festival. Shivratri is very popular festival and is celebrated throughout India.

Very nice photojournal image.

I am not religious and I always wondered what motivates people to go on pilgrimage over great distance. Never been able to understand and had to settle for the thoughts that one of those things in life people just do.
