Mandy,
If you would like to see an example of what I was suggesting in the previous
comment go to the portfolio of Toini Blom and look at the 2nd page of her portfolio,then go down to the 8th picture or so from the top.
It is not titled but, it's a pic of a woman in a flowered dress with red lipstick.
Look at the shadows on her face and the way she is posed .
I think this is very well done and has a very dramatic effect to it.

Mandy,
I think you had a great idea here and you might want to take another stab at it.
You might want to try for some more dramatic lghting on the face.
It seems to be very flat.
I would also try some different poses.
Keep trying though I think you are on the right track.
