Alex, thanks for the thoughts on people. (And give my regards to Sarah... ask her to post more photos!). I'm thinking of getting the 90mm lens for my Fuji TX-1, the panorama camera. It can be switched to normal mode, and it's a pleasure to use and a snap to focus. The 90mm lens is not much use for panoramas unless you get up into the mountains, which I seldom do any more, and you tend to find them quite cheap second hand. That's important to me... The alternative would be a VERY nice Cosina-Voigtlander lens, the 75mm F/2.5. This has a lovely image quality and is widely used for portraits, but I know I would find the TX-1 easier and faster to use, which I'm beginning to realise is important with people shots. The 90mm would also let me get a bit further away, which would reduce the psychological pressure--if you know what I mean. It's a VERY sharp lens, but maybe a bit on the contrasty side for portraits...

I found (and was mightily impressed) by Sarah's shot before I saw this one. Both both are wonderful once-in-a-lifetime photographs or, as the Japanese say, "shutter chances." My parents were born in Wales, and we often went back there (I was born and brought up in Bristol) but I've never seen sunsets like this a Rhossilli Bay! Well captured, sir!!
