Hi Pia,
Thanks for you detailed review ;), I dono, think ?The portrait? is Stunning, as I said couldn?t be better.
So if it?s not the camera, then it must be you! ;)))
Auto focus is always a problem, you have to be aware how to use it, work around it's limitations.
I would definitely use manual focus, that?s what I miss the most with the G3.
Overall I?m very happy with it, special for traveling, I don?t miss the weight from my analog SLR at all ;)
But may be one day I go for the next generation DSLR again.
I did portraits in the past, but never reached your level, you?re simple too good.
Groet John

Hi John, about your last comment: For my experience when I see your results with the G3, then your camera works very much better as the D300. I would never buy me this camera again! Its also not the best decision for portraits, I prefer an analog camera with film for portraits in the future:)
The camera has very much problems with the Autofocus, its for the SLR a big problem. Also when a little sun comes out, its ALWAYS overexposed. This is my experience:) I would wish to take one day so clear and sharp pictures from the photoquality as yours.....!
Gruss, Pia

Almost like the sun in the blue sky. It works well for me and if you intended to show the contrast between the cold blue and the warm tulip in the light then you have done very well.

Great colours and sharpness, John!
In my opinion the composition would improve if the two leaves on the right side of the tulip were not there. And if I may nittpick a bit more...the over-exposed spot on the tulip is a bit distracting.
But overall a very good image!
groetjes, Marion
:)
