Kosti,
In my opinion I prefer the last photo you posted. Your PS work was great and very finely controled but I think the filter makes too much noise for such a delicate subject, not letting us apreciate the whole.
As for the photo I love it. The grey background with the contrasted black and white couple is awesome and it?s really amazing the way you caught them moving even that far away. By the way... What were you doing lying in the sun with such a photo opportunity like that? :)
Best regards,
Sérgio

this is the stage before applying the filter; thank u all for your constructive comments. it is evident that the subject was more important than the technical details. I do believe that there is always a decisive moment for everything that we create and at the same time this decisions differ due to our mood, time, need of expression, desire to depict and communicate through symbols, etc. as a result one can go on altering and re-presenting according to new tools and means or decide to hierarchize subject, project, technical quality or let this become just a stage for the specific time that it describes.

I am attaching the original. it came out quite grainy; I was not using a filter (red or yellow, which I often do use); I took the photo from far away and could not compose it the way I wanted during the shooting; there were many objects and people within the frame that I though would be distracting from the point that I needed to make; and I propably did not do that good of a job in scanning the negative. All these added to my decision to crop, eliminate objects and people and use the dry brush on the artistic filter. did some correction on layers and contrast.

What it loses in detail it gains in mood and depth. I like it very much, and can't think of any way to improve it. Fantastic

A beautiful, poignant image. The composition and tone fine, the mood well expressed, and the painterly effects well controlled. Outstanding work, Kosti! Regards. Tim
