I know I'm in the minority here, but it does nothing for me. Even when it was POW on "that other site" I couldn't understand why. Just looks like a snapshot to me. Maybe if I could see more of the face to add some personality. Looks almost like a silhouette to me. Maybe it's my monitor or the scan or something.
I suppose it's very different seeing the real print rather than on the monitor.

Wow, many comments:) OK, I wasn't sure at first whether I should post this image under portrait or journalism. This was taken in one of the lakesore parks in Chicago. I am crazy enough to come up to people and ask them to pose for me. Took me about 10 secounds to prepare and I did not ask him to do anything. Since it was very windy, he tried to keep balance and go with the flow. I took just two shots and walked away. I never stage anyone when taking their photos. Let them be who they really are... thanks to all for your comments, Chris

I agree almost totally with Alex on this one... dont want the right hand in the image for it will draw your attention away from the only dark part of the image.. the head.
The only two things I would like to improvement on are:
1) The left hand fingers. Think I would either like to see more of hand.. or no fingers at all.
2) There is not enough graduation of light on the top of the head.. the light is a bit too hard edged.. I know its a nitpick but I I like the maximum black on the face.. but just would like a slight bit more modelling along the top.
GREAT JOB!
The glasses are perfect! Were they intentional?

Freedom is another word that describes this picture for me. Agree with Al on the dodging of the face. Nicely captured.

Dodge the face a little and this would be nice. His right arm being cut off bothers me but the angle and idea is excellent. can you restage it?
