yeh, the shadows are way too harsh. they just dont mix with the bright side and the shadow side, but if you could this with the sun higher, it would be great, maybe even with a sepia tone would be better, try it out
I agree completely with everything you mentioned, Artie. It was not a planned shot, just a spur of the moment thing. It was taken early morning on the way to a cave, so the sun was still low, hence the strong areas of shadow. I will definately attempt this one again sometime.
I find the lose of detail in the left wall is pulling the eye askew and hindering the natural lead in of the roadway...also the black end to the roadway is having the same effect.the roadway leads you down into the pic but the black wall put a stop to you so the sense of dimension is adversely affected....really good attempt at this one Andy and it is clear your intention however.....the lighting gods have been mean to you....
