No wonder they call it the 'blue hour'! I like that you kept a little of the rocks in the foreground to anchor the shot. The string of lights along the bridge cable adds a little 'festive' atmosphere to it :) I agree that a little detail in the face of the moon would be really nice.

Kim,

The moon you used in this composite is a bit over exposed. I would use a shorter exposure on the moon. Running the image through Photoshop's Sharpen filter may please the people who want a sharper image. I feel that the softness works here.

Whenever I downsample for posting on the web, I find that the Sharpen More filter restores much of the "punch" of my photos.

It is a pretty perfect night landscape to my eyes. I assume you shot the moon with your telephoto and glued it in here, and that the main exposure of the scene had a pretty overexposed moon? It does look a little soft which is a little surprising, but it is certainly below the threshold for where it would become a problem. I like the dotted line in the supports for the bridge :-)

As I've mentioned before, I like the almost mono-colour appearance of the photo. The blue is so compelling and deep and the hint of purple keeps it interesting. I think it looks great.

What I think might make this shot even more compelling is a bit more sharpness in the background. I know that's difficult at the end of a long zoom - perhaps play with the sharpen tool on a low opacity in PS. Work the treeline a bit and definitely try to bring out some of the lights on the bridge and distant buildings. (They almost look covered by a thin haze.) I wish the moon had a bit more detail as well. Perhaps you could get a cheap roll of film and practice with moon shots, seeing which exposures work the best. Of course, the fuller the moon, the more difficult it is to expose. If I recall, your "Harbour Moon" shot with the crescent moon looked very keen indeed.

Though I may seem heavy on the criticism, I do like this shot - you know I do! ;p

Thanks Audrey... I hoped that the colours weren't too pastel and putting people to sleep. (but that still may be the case with only one comment! hahahhaha)
Did you live in Vancouver? It can be such a pretty city at times!

Hello Kim, This is beautiful, tranquil and peaceful. I was trying to figure which part of Stanely Park till I read you're coming from North Van. Lovely work.
