At the moment I'm working in a university in limerick, to which an awful lot of foreign students come. Many come with the expectation that they will be permanently wet, won't see a moment's sun and may become completely miserable during their stay here. Very often, they're pleasantly surprised to find that Limerick isn't as wet as that great book Angela's Ashes portrays the city to be! Mind you it does still rain here, but in between we have wonderful sunshine and even blue skies as this photo is an example of. I have a few of the city which shows really vivd blue skies to the back of my primary image and this is one of them. The church is St. Munchin's Church which is on St. Mary's Island and close to King John's Castle. This really would be the "old quarter" of the city if there was one. The church in the photo is 177 years old now and stands on ground where reputedly Bishop Munchin establised a church as far back as the 5th century! There has in documented fact been a church on the site since the 12th century, so this 177 year old church is pretty young by the standard's of the sites history itself! Still, it's a part of Limerick city and I hope that my photos put the city into a better light than some would have it be.
The little Limerick and your english are brilliant!!!! I really appreciate the comments you made. I'm hoping to exhibit my photos of Limerick city in one of the coffee houses in town and with your permission would like to attach your "witty ditty" to this particular photo. It's absolutely a fantastic verse!! Thanks again and best wishes with your photographic and cycling pursuits.
St Munchins Church has a tower That gets now and then a big shower The greater the fun When its warmed by the sun It's all in the sky and Gods power.
I wanted to thank you for the lovely words you wrote to go with your picture. The combination is often more than the photo. I couldn't help reacting, forgive me (my english is poor).
