great moment of him playing. a very photo journalistic shot. great work on this.

Good idea to have stressed the hands.
An aperture such as 3,5 (yourmax zoom)+ stabilized camera would have give you a better depth of field and blured the backgroung. Do not hesitate to use a classical 50mm with good aperture.
The pencil on the face : hmm hmm !!
try to add some contrast as musical portrait like darkness.
Composition is good
