About This was meant to be my paean to Joe Cornish's shot of Dunstanburgh Castle but things didn't go to plan. I arrived about an hour before sunset and got the tripod and camera set up on the edge of the sea, balanced delicately on the slippery 'cannonball' rocks. Then the wind became very strong and it began to rain. I took one shot with my 28-75 lens and found it was too narrow a view so had to switch to the 12-24 in very unpleasant conditions. As I have no filter holder for the 12-24 I had to hold a wet ND grad in front of the lens. After one shot I'd had enough and quickly packed my wet gear and beat a hasty retreat. I had to blow out the highlights in the sky to get the result I wanted but given the problems I had I think it's come out OK but it's no Joe Cornish!

I know Cornish's shot, and yors seems to have good potential on it's own. Pity about the burning sky, and I would also prefer some more light on the middle part in front of the tower.

Keith, again, is this one any better on your monitor?

I know what you were trying to achieve, but the result has turned out a little dark for my taste (and I like dark images).

great shot. very inventive, as the focal point of the photo is the castle, but it is the smallest part. the colors also work very well to establish the mood of the shot. excelent work
