I still watch your photo that I repeat is much beautiful one... but I believe that in this case but has been used too much sharpness (hand right)... the same skillful arm is cut from the frame... and perhaps IMHO is better to have it!
the photo would have been more "centered" and more symmetrical in this case it is little canted, (is not rule to have a centered - to times it is played on the "thirds party of the frame") but I believe that in order to make to stand out more the subject was better to use a greater DOF... the background attracts the look too much! result much bond!
cheers
roby

Beautiful shot!
The black and white gives off a good effect for this type of pose. Her expression resembles her stance and enviornment perfectly. The fact that she's leaning to one side also balances out the picture.
The cropping of her right arm almost haults your eye to stop looking.
I would also soften the background just a bit.
Other than that I really liked this. It looks like the cover of a magazine to me.

Wow the tone and sharpness are spectacular. The compostion successfully overcomes the limitations of a digital P&S.. (which is no easy matter). Contratulations!

I agree with you that film looks better than digial. but the original looks great, its just that i use windows image editor to resize my pictures. so thats what takes the quality down alot. but film is still nicer looking, i agree with you.

Great first attempt. Very natural and clear. Amazing to get that nice expression in bright direct sun!! Try some shots in the shade for fun. Most excellent tones!

Great shot, Drew. I might have tried to keep more of her right arm, but it may have hurt the nice tight framing you have achieved. The lighting is a bit hard, but I think it works in this shot. Very nice. Lou

Personally I think this is superb. The detail is rich, the focus spot on and the tones are excellent. Afraid I can only award a full 7 Drew. Brilliant work !

Well I like the expression and all, I think you have an eye for that part of photographie. My main problem whit the picture is the digital quality, that's why I still work whit films. It takes down the feeling and qaulity of the picture, and thats just to bad.
But thats all, I like the composition, low point of view; Good, keep it up!
Tim.

one problem that i have is that the shapes coming in from behind the model's right are. To make them less apparent, i would go lower and make the sky the dominant background or I would use a longer lens to soften the background considerably..

yea! man. i love my kodak. did you hear that they are comming out with the lens filter attachment? they are comming out with that and a Schneider wide angle coverter. I'm pretty sure the filter size is 55mm, but i'm not 100% sure. go check the www.kodak.com to find it. the coupple things i don't like about the camera, is that you cant intercange lenses (thats not a huge problem) and the other is that you cant focus manualy.. that is the worst. I pick up my moms old Canon AE-1 and i just fall in love with her camera cause of all the manual features. but eh, you cant be fully picky and have a small wallet eh? thanks for the comment.

excellent shot. for my personnal taste and short exprince i can see it a very good portrait. very good use of light, very good expouser and pose. so sharp and has emotional appeal as well. i like its tones in B&W. i just doubt the cutting of her right hand. keep up thanks

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Given the harsh nature of sunlight without any fill, this is a very good portrait, and you had her pose at just the right angle.

That said, you can use an inexpensive piece of white foamcore to bounce sunlight into the shadows, softening them up considerably.

So, you like your Kodak, Drew? I have the same model, and I'm having a blast with it!!

well either you have a natural model or you have natural talent. Drew I love it oh I am sure you will get a lot of feed back . be free and natural see the photo in your mind before you take the shot don't force it use as many cameras as you can and keep shooting watch the light photos are nothing more than light all the best John

Otherwise from cutting off part of her right arm, exposure is good and the pose is acceptable. You have her off center which is good. Cropping otherwise is good...
