Brian: I never had one but weren't they rated in the single figures for speed? I did have one that ran at 300 baud.

It almost looks antique, must be 25 years old.

Yup it sure does bring back memories. I never had one of those babies but did have a Hayes 1200 baud external serial modem hooked up to a 8086 machine, 2 5 1/4 floppies, no hard drive! I think I like my dsl! Thanks for the ride down memory lane, nice shot!

Wow. it's a flashback to my first days of computing. Perhaps a 150 acustic Baud mode? Back when I had a dial up - that truly was a dial up. Rotary dial that is. It was part of an IBM portable that had a 5 inch screen, weighed about 25 pounds and had a panel on the back that flipped open to show a modem like this.
Thanks for the flashback!

An acoustic coupler...what baud is it 75, 300, 1200. I remember my first 300b modem that cost somewhere around 400 bucks.

Fer sure. You could go the the bathroom or make a sandwich while you were waiting for the screen to load.

Dude! It's a cradle modem!! Those bad boys were so slow, you'd read the text as it was downloaded to the screen.
(Paul begins humming "Memories" at this point...)
