About Used tripod and self-timer to capture self-portriat in my living room! Cropped, converted to b&w, brought back in eye color, a little burning & dodging to even up shadows and a diffused glow filter for the dreamy look. Please let me know what you think.

Thank you again Pam! I like the effect of the diffused glow too. I do plan on working on this one though for a smoother look. Hard to post a self-portrait, huh?

I think you did a wonderful job here... I am a fan of difussed glow I love the effect it gives... This makes a very interesting self portrait..

Tom, I think that is one of the most wonderful comments I've received to date. Thank you for the vote of confidence and wonderfully kind compliment! I am so grateful! I scanned your photos and will definately be taking a closer look tomorrow! Thanks again!

Follow your dreams. Your portraiture is superb. There are people making a living doing portraits with half the skill you have.

Thanks Stephen, I'm blushing! I was shocked at how many people were living in that house you posted too! That's so sad!

Thanks again and "see" ya round!

Nice to meet you Dale Ann, stunning photo and beautiful eyes, looks like I will have to tidy up my piccie on the portfolio
Thanks again for your lovely comments on the old house - it was very run down, could not believe how many people lived in it !

I check the diffuse glow tool and you can adjust the grain but it does sacrifice the effect. Both Neat Image and Noise Ninja have a free version for download. Of the 2, Neat Image is more useful because Noise Ninja puts a grid on the photo. Neat Image does the same job as the paid version except that when you save it, you don't get a choice of jpeg compression level - it saves the jpeg with high compression. Not good for a print but the image quality is good enough to post here on UF. Download Neat Image from here: http://www.neatimage.com/download.html - this is the "demo" version with the high jpeg compression.

Jeff, thanks for your comments. I was thinking the diffused glow was where the noise came from. I am not familiar with noise ninja or neat image. Any chance either of them are free downloads?

Nice and lovely portrait

Dale, the noise is due to the diffuse glow effect. The noise does't bother me but if you want to clean up the noise, I would recommend Neat Image or Noise Ninja.

Thanks Gayle for your comments! As I mentioned in my comment to Marco, I think the noise is coming from my effects. I don't mind so much, but if it's distracting to the viewer, I shall have to work on it! Thanks for taking time to comment!

Thank you Marco for your honest critique. I will work on it and see what I come up with. I think most of the noise is coming from the effects, because the picture itself is not noisy! But I will play around with it and try to improve it! Thanks again!

hi, nice to meet/see you! You are lovely!...like the comp and the green eyes, but as Marco says, the noise below eye is distracting...this has happened to me in some pics with sky and i have tried to clone out as much as possible in Paint Pro8...gayle

Interesting elaboration. I find the noise below the eye and in the shadow areas, a bit disturbing.
