About I love to challange myself and to simplify an image as much as possible. So, this is what happens when you put me on a balcony in a litle place (Flores, Guatemala again) with my camera, killing some time (and not knowing what this sunset will bring me furthermore!)
Personally I like the simple form and colours. It took me about ten pictures of the balcony to get to this photograph. The blue in the background is the water of Lake Petén Itza. I needed shallow Depth of Field because I wanted a blurry background, but the question was: where to focus on the wood? Give me your opinion and have fun,

Jeroen

Jeroen, I happened to see your portfolio today en after commenting to your Ara, I couldn't leave this photo unseen cause it was the one that attracted my attention most of all. Very nice shot. Simple but very strong composition, perfect angle. I like this image the way it is. The background in gradient blue is super. I don't think that a blurred one would have done justice to this fantastic abstract.
Excellent capture, worth a full 7 to me

Sorry Jeroen, it should have been close the aperture! It amazes me how people like you can find a subject where I would see an empty balcony!
I especially like Emgy Massidda's "peeling paint" and folded material pictures!

Robert,

indeed, I could have a bigger Depth of Field (and then I should have closed the aperture ;-) )
I'm not sure, but maybe I also needed some speed.
But, to be honest, personally I like it like this, although I alsolike to know what others think. So thanks for your comment!

First tell us where did you focus on the wood? Ha, ha, only joking! You could have opened the aperture a bit more to get all the wood in focus while still blurring the ocean (which I presume is more than a few metres away). Nice gradient on the blue background. Robert
