There is sth funny about this image, the child seems to be so curious, but you know what curiosity does to the cat.Relax, this is not a cat... so,just joking!
yes, yes, i know..i love shooting the street. If i can't just shoot and leave, i have to make happy chat in another language with total strangers while i agonize over those same technicalities you mention. People stand there and just don't know what to do and the moment is often lost (not always, but often). i just bought a good point and shoot film camera to be able to shoot fast and sharp and get out fast. i'm still not sure how to control DOF on this camera..i may or may not be able to since it only has minimal controls. But i think it's important to selectively focus as you have done here. it does much for the mood of the shot. Thanks for the greetings from the green of Greece..and i thought Greece was all rock and sand (dumb me!) here's greetings from the green, green verdant tropics of Costa Rica!
The depth of field , ...yes, I like minimum depth of field in the street, just an idea of the cars passing by... a focus on people only . When I shoot people in the street (I wish this had not a double meaning, but you know what I mean) I become invisible to my mind... This makes things easier as they do not really notice me, I shoot and leave!!! It is cruel to embarrass people trying to decide on a shutter!!! (laugh..)
Dear Kathleen, isn't it a lovely feeling to shoot photos?? To capture the moment? I have "spoken" with some wonderful people in here...All people who "love a photo" are sensitive people. There is something I mentioned before and still touches me very much, I will repeat myself for you and once more distant myself from technicalities and stick to feelings...

here's what i love..that first, it's a little girl fascinated with the motorcycle, that's a wonderful twist..usually i see little boys with the lust for hot things on wheels (and then later, hot things on legs ;)). Next, i can appreciate how utterly fascinated she is because what else could distract her from her chocolate bar? And third, your shooting expertise, the depth of field, especially. Nice street shot, Mary, and i love the name of your portfolio sooooooooo much! That's how i feel after a day of shooting people in the street, "I met some people"...how utterly appropriate. best regards: kat~
