your images are so mysterious..they're fascinating me..at first i didn't think i got it, now i know i don't get it and i'm delighted not to. i know you love antiques, but you delight in displaying them in irreverant ways that are quite delightful. i could see a book with these "illustrations" and absolutely no text..because each one tells its own story with warmth and grace and a healthy dose of lightheartedness.
What i love here is the almost startled expression of the Buddha, with eyes open wide, he sits frozen in place with the bird quite comfortably perched on his head. The cats, drawn in exactly the same position on either side, appear to be almost worshipping the Buddha, almost as icons themselves, until we look up and see the bird then all the somber formality of the cats and the Buddha become as an amusing anecdote..this is great! kat~ kat~
