I have been having doubts about posting this photo for several weeks, but I decided to submit it. Let me explain: I am not religious at all and I like this photo purely for the image on itself. I found it in a church in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the shadow of a Maria statue came together on the wall with the statue of Jesus on the cross. I think the positioning is not intended this way, but it makes a strong image. My doubt was in the fact that since a couple of years, religions have become a difficult subject and in a cross-cultural community like Usefilm I don't want to inflict negative feelings and thoughts. In the end I decided to post it because I think this community is very mature and can handle subjects like these. And because I personally like this image.
How can You expect to not have mention of the subject matter of a photograph weather it be religous or not?To me the photo of Christ has much meaning ,to someone else mayby not.But I am the viewer and must say how I feel about the subject matter!Respectfully, JOHN
To be honest, this is exactly the kind of reaction I'm afraid of: I want to show an image, not a religious statement....
Keep in mind that there are people around who think about this subject in an other way: I am very interested in all kind of religions and what it means for other people, but it is not my intention to express an religious message. So that's way I am very carefull in explaining the 'why & how' of this image.
Still, I hope not to start an religious discussion but a photographical one.
