There aren't too many telephoto options for "consumer" digitals that work well, I'm still looking. Rob

Yes, I did shoot the moon, but they didn't come out great. Firstly, some-one seems to have affirmative-shopped my tripod (the carrycase is EMPTY) and I didn't have a sufficient zoom lens either. Eish . . living in SA!

Oi Robert - didn't know how to e-mail you from here (can't see a link anywhere or an e-mail addy) so I am just commenting on this image (this time)to get your attention. Tonight there is a Lunar eclipse in SA - lets see if we can get nice piccys of it. You up for the challenge? Here's some info: Johannesburg - A total eclipse of the moon will be visible in South Africa on Tuesday as the moon moves into the shadow of the earth, the Johannesburg Planetarium said on Monday.
"The eclipse will start at 20:48, when the full moon enters the shadow of the earth and starts changing shape," said Dr Claire Flanagan.
"From 21:52 to 23:08, the eclipse will be total - the moon will be almost totally dark - just a faint reddish glow will be visible."
She said at 23:08 the moon would start to recover its usual shape, and by 12 minutes past midnight the eclipse would be over.

Robert, Beautiful detail, blue sky and impression of space. I also like the fact that the one planes looks photocopied from the other. Very nice! I don't want to be close when they touch though!

Hi Andy, yes it was handheld. Actually there is only one photo in my portfolio that isn't handheld and that is the candlelight still life!
Cheers
