get rid of the spatula for sure! the colours are indeed great. The colours make it surreal - which is why I think you should get rid of the 'everyday elements' or colours - perhaps even the eggpan.
Re the angle - you could either go lower or higher.
All said - i really liek the idea and the end result. cheers - ed

It's very bright and vibrant Kurt. It is a bit busy though, maybe removing some objects will be effective, like Becky suggested. It's a very nice first attempt though!

I really like this attempt. It's very bright and perky and definitely puts the "shine" in "rise and shine".
What I think might make this photo a bit more effective is the removal of some objects; I feel this scene is a bit too cluttered. I think putting an egg or two on the plate and taking off the frying pan and spatula would help, along with removing the spoon and the orange juice or salt and pepper shakers. I like the colourful background, but I wonder if perhaps it needs a simpler pattern so as not to distract the eye from the subject. I also think the photo might benefit from a higher angle, so you're more "in the face" of the food, so to speak.
This is a well exposed photo. It would be interesting to see this still life under different lighting conditions (natural, artificial or even both). Keep experimenting! :)

I like the composition... the fork and the knife are well posed!!
[Orange Juice to breakfeast is just wonderful, isn't it? =) ]
The light is quite good... it's so bright shining and the feeling of a beautiful morning sun and relaxin and chilling comes out very good.
I think this is very good.... [Though I'm absolutly not a fan of still lifes or landscapes.... I like this one!!!]
