Since 19th century running,water power lift. In Bom-Jesus.Up get a load of water from local source,pull the twinn, down, linked by a steel cable. Geting down empty the water,the other, up,fill in the water.Simple,no waste,no pollution.Just brains.Never since, had any trouble, let alone accident.In Braga,craddle of Portugal.Anybody know similar?
It is pulled by a steel cable,running over a rack trail.The water is the over weight to overcome the people weight ,when going up.It has a tank underneath where water is fiiled in, when up.Easy and very clever, from circa 1880Never failed since that time.My gand father was one who most fight to install this lift, because it was cheap- no fuel-and very clever.
