About I'm off to teach at a Christian conference centre ~ an old mansion, once owned by Isambard Kingdom Brunel ~ so I won't be loading up any shots for a little while. Just to say that I'll miss the 'contact' with all my UF friends. Have a great week everyone!!

As to the picture, this was taken on a beautiful, balmy evening as I explored the country lanes near to my home. I 'discovered' his old shed in the hamlet of Wigborough, and liked the way the evening sun was lighting up the doors.

My best regards to everyone!!

Chris

Looks beautiful on photo, but I would be to scared of being close to that shed in real life! Becuase it looks so typical a place where there would be wasp nests!

But lovely photo with beautiful light and very well composed. Only the white sky on top right side feels a little bit like if I could live without! ;-)

I'll miss you also....and I just got back on Monday. I have so much to catch up on, I see you have loaded on a lot while I was gone.

This photograph is so nice! Another neat shed, and of course nice flowers to help with the framing!

Lighting is awesome also,
Nice work Chris,
Lori ;)

Very nice scene. The low light makes this much better than it would have been with a high sun.
Have fun and will miss your pictures. Don.

Hi Chris, You'll leave us with memories.. Great shot, and perfect lighting. Not much to nitpick about.... Maybe only the tonal range, as it looks a bit too bright, as if there's a white wash over it. A tad more contrast might be nice. But the over grown shed is expertly captured. If you'd allowed us to rate it, I would've given it a 7....;o)

Cheers,

Hugo

PS: I notice you changed the frame....) Much, Much eloquent!

Dear John et al,
Just before I shoot off?
Thank you for your kind compliment, but I really am just an amateur too!!
With regard to?
Setting ~ I generally keep my Fuji set on aperture priority, adjusting the aperture accordingly for d.o.f. etc.
Sharpness ~ I keep mine set on 'normal'
Pixels ~ I find the 6m setting on the 602 to be not quite as sharp, as a rule, as the 3m setting. So I rarely move it from 3m.
This shot, as with many others I upload to UF, has been 'treated' in PS7. On this one I cloned out some distracting sticks, etc.; adjusted the levels; boosted the saturation a little; selectively darkened the door a shade or two; burnt-in some of the foliage; created the frame; then flattened it; scaled it down to 800px width; and, finally, sharpened it using 'unsharp mask' set at 70%, .5px, 3 levels.
I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Chris

Chris, When you return to the fold will you please give us more info on your beautiful pictures, like was it taken SP, Auto, P, A, or s, and was it on soft, sharp, or normal, and how about the pixels, 6m, 3m, or 1m, fine or normal, only that way can us amateurs compete with you. Hope this is not to much to ask of you? best wishes. By the way this is a great shot.
