About
On a rainy Memorial Day, my son Ben and I visited the Maryland WWII Memorial in Annapolis. We wanted to pay our respects to all the Veterans, but especially to my mother's cousin Izzy - Staff Sargent Isadore Siegfried Jachman.
Sergent Jachman, a paratrooper, rescued his company from an onslaught by two enemy tanks during fighting in Belgium in January 1945. He died from wounds he suffered during his heroic action and was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor (see http://www.jwvca.org/HallOfHeroes/IsadoreJachman.html )
After taking this photo, I posted it to my blog, "Remebering Cousin Izzy", at http://therosenblog.blogspot.com/2004/05/remembering-cousin-izzy.html
What a powerful and emotional capture. It warms my heart to see that this "young hero" is remembered so many years later. Thank you for sharing and reminding us all of the sacrifice made by men like your cousin, Sargent Jachman....Gloria
