My youngest son and I were out playing disc golf, and he noted that his birthday is just days away. Sadly, it's only his 12th birthday. He noted how badly he wants it to be his 13th. "But I can be 13, just for you."
It had me puzzled, so I asked him way 13 was so much more special than 12.
"Because it ends in 'teen'" he calmly explained. Ah, yes. To be older.
Very sweet and meaningful explanation of this photo filled with feelings. But it's really so weird that we spend whole our childhood longing to be older, and when we finally grown up we wish we could have stayed kids forever!
13...14... *shivering*... I just said to my sister a week ago that I think life has two HORRIBLE steps, and that is when we turn 13-14 and when we are later PARENTS to someone who is 13-14... ;-)
