At least a wonderful composition and colors! Only the right flower looks a bit overexposed, but that do no harm at the picture at all! Kind regards. Back on UF Ellen

Alexey, in my "about" I wrote about leaving this flower to my peers - and I meant you and Felipe W. :-)
So ... I am MOST honoured that you have taken my image to your favourites, and that you like it so much! Thank you!

Hi Linn,
been busy for a couple of days (preparing photo's for a wedding and children shots), haven't posted anything for too long but yesterday I was reading about black backdrops on of of my other favourite sites and was thinking about your problem. Was thinking about sending the link to you, but I thought you had mastered the little problem. So, I was wrong, I see.... Ok, have a look here, it's aboot protraiture, but basically, it's the same problem: http://www.nikonians.org/dcforum/DCForumID49/546.html
I think especially using black velvet is a good one.
Give it a go, Jeroen

This is very well done quite stunning. I read the other comments and am so glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble with purple. Many a time I have thought of yanking my petunias up and putting them under false light to see if that would work. Grrr!

Don't see anything of your struggle in the result, it's beautiful, again. I spent all afternoon with my mother and visited a few very nice gardens. Lokking for some purple flowers all the time. But I think I better let you do the purple thing. Can't beat you I think. Teddie.

Nothing much wrong with this one, Linn ~ it's a real beauty! Kind regards, Chris P.S. Don't let flowers get to ya! Show 'em who's boss! Grab hold of the stems and whack them over your back garden wall a few times. That'll teach 'em! Watch out for the R.S.P.C.F. though! (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Flowers!) :>))

Linn,
First of all -- this is beautiful! As Gloria says, we are our own worst critics. I'm glad you posted this, even with your misgivings. Personally, I like the sharpness of the flowers against the background. I think the stems and buds add context and interest.
I almost feel like I could pluck one from the screen they look so perfect.
Regards, Anne

Thanks Kriss Because I didn't get an overall dark black in the image, I had to darken it and now I feel that the flowers look too "cut out", too sharp on the edges.
I want to shoot some flowers tomorrow against a natural backdrop, and I might just yank these ones out (again) for another try :-)

Linn, it is often said that an artist is his or hers own worst critic....I know very little of the technical apsects of photography..but I do know beauty and clear colors when I view a photo. This is beautiful...again full of grace from incoporating the stems and nice clear lines of the petals...your efforts have paid off greatly...Gloria

I don't know what you complain about, I think this is VERY beautiful!! Could it be more tastefully composed? I wouldn't think so, it looks fantastic!
I would maybe try also another photo with more focus only on flowers, and let the leafs and stems be a little bit more out of focus.
But if you are frustrated and had enough, this is really great too and really a pleasure to look at!
