Beautiful image Roger... After I read your about... many things came to my mind... such as the tribute you are paying here with this image... Beautifully composed and the tones are really great... Think of this as a gift... to remember your dad and your heritage...
Cheers,
Maria

Roger, in reference to Ian's comment, my father was a gardner, he would have appreciated this photo. I lost him when I was 21.

Very poignant after thought this. Grouse tones. (The lawn's pristine! He must have been a gardener who cared a lot...). Hugs Roger.

G'Day Ray without wanting to sound sentimental in answer to your question...I guess one answer might be that it satifies the maker

Roger, surely one of the magical aspects of photography is that each viewer brings his own emotions to the viewing. If an image does not move the viewer as the photographer intended, then may be the failing is with the photographer.
This raises questions such as - how much, if any, explanation does an image require to make it successful?
How is an image's success measured?

Beautiful tones, and the texture of the grass is outstanding. I also like the diagonal of the flowers.
Wonderful tribute to your dad.

When it comes to living and dying Roger, flowers are ahead of us. They do it more often and don't think about it. Thanks for sharing your special moments with us. Ted

Roger, sometimes the thumbs don't pull the viewers which can be a real shame (mind you even at 800 it can be hard to make sense of an image)but a it's consequence of such a busy site. No let downs here, I can see exactly why this would make you feel so poignant, it's as if your Dad's favourite flowers laid down in tribute but they are still very much alive and beautiful. Down but not out, laid down but still alive and influential in hearts and in spirit. Hope this stays on the wall for many years and that the kids will come to understand its meaning and importance too. Ian

Poignant lovely tribute and to have come across it when you did. The tones are so perfect and the delicate white flowers exquisite. This truly is a touching image.

Wrong on that one, Roger. Just took me a while to come across this one.
Very touching photo to see when I read your about. It always amazes me what crosses our paths to photograph if we only keep our eyes open to see.
Your image is very lovely indeed. The tones are wonderful and the composition is spot on.
Great tribute to your father. Kev
