Another great b&w. I like how that one strip of light is falling across the photo, and another source of light striking just the bird and the top of the marker he's on.

very nice shot... maybe if you cropped it a bit from the right or left so that the bird won't be in the middle of the shot.. very beautiful b&w tones :)

Fitting medium. I think the Civil War was fought before color, also. I have only seen B/W from that era. Love old cemetery photos. Very peaceful and relaxed.

Beautiful melancholy shot Rebecca. Lovely soft light and tiny delicate wild flowers. I agree with Dirck on the way the ray of light crosses the tombstones. Neat unexpected effect. The bird seems so wistful to me for some reason as if recalling the loss of all these young men and now even their names can no longer be read on the time worn stones.

But they ARE tombstones! lol... small ones, in the civil war area of City Cemetary here in Lynchburg. They are small though :)

Nice shot, Rebecca! For some reason the bird looks absolutely huge to me - I think I was seeing the posts as tombstones, which would make him pretty big! :) I like the X formed by the posts on one diagonal, and the ray of sunlight on the other, leading right to the 'protagonist.' Nice of him to pose so well for you!
