I end up getting the grainy effect because I'm not a good photographer. I have to use software to try and make my photos presentable...

I use Paint Shop PRO 8.1. It's easier for me... My PS is mostly used for restoration and some special filtering. Under Paint shop PRO I did a little Auto Contrasting, One step Clarity, one step up on saturation and maybe on step with sharpen.
The vein look in the rose is natural....
