The way it's formed, it seems to want to reach out in that sort of gesture; and perhaps to be touched. I like the soft, out of focus areas just as much as the sharp areas. They complement each other. It's almost hypnotic.

Thanks for the comments about this image. Dirck, this is a recycled image that I temporarily re-posted because someone pointed out a much better image by Ronnie Gaubert that explored the same subject. Here is his image: http://www.usefilm.com/image/234766.html He did a much better job of using light in the center of the bud.
I am a little guilty of posting an older image in lieu of shooting something new, lol. I need to get busy with the camera again. Too much time has passed!!

Great excercise in DOF, Mary Sue! The way the unopened flowers are coming right at you gives a wonderful 3-D effect! It's kind of a shame that you can't see the tips of the three longest flowers, but at least they lead off the frame in a nice, regular pattern! :) Great to see a post from you again - it's been a while!
