Location City -  Snowy Mountains
State -  NSW
Country - Australia   Australia
About The Ramshead Range makes up part of Australia's highest mountains. The area where this image was made is above the treeline and was subjected to heavy glaciation during the ice ages, which has left large amounts of moraine material such as this granite boulder, with their retreat. The area is snow covered during the winter and exposed to blizzard conditions during that time. No commercial winter skiing is undertaken in this part of the National Park, although one of Australia?s premiere ski resorts is located about 2 kms from this wilderness. During summer the area attracts large numbers of tourists who come to amongst other things walk to the top of Mt Kosciuzko Australia?s highest peak (7314 feet!) The vegetation in the vicinity and indeed all areas above the treeline, consists of low heath like shrubs, lichens, sphagnum mosses and the like. When parts of plants die their branches become bleached by the elements of this harsh climate.
So I get to go walking and photographing in some of the most beautiful country in Australia and go to the Thredbo Blues Festival as well!!

hi, like the textures/tone/perspective..looks like some rugged terrain..especially like those twisted little branches in the foreground that have a bleached look..regards,gayle
