About this is at the base of the north face of Mt Edith Cavell. I am standing underneath a hanging glacier that is dropping huge rocks to the place where I am standing.....I know what a dork! but I just had to get over here to take some photos. The whole time I was listening for that CRACK BANG of ice and boulders coming down on my head. You can see the newness of the rocks in the foreground and i can smell the sulfer smell of freshly broken stone. I guess that the powers that be wanted me to upload these photos and spared me long enough to shoot some more.....I sweat thinking about it even now.

Oh yes one other thing the color of the water is from "Glacier till". The grinding of the stone face by the glacier over the thousands of years, making a rock Flour that tints the water giving it that great cool green color

You remind me of Cousteau, bringing us to Frontiers never before explored, places that until youir arrival have never had human footprints. These photos are so cool, but as a true Mountainer I am sure to you a bit more commonplace ? However still breathtaking no matter how many times you see them ?

hi Tim, I would ask how your trip to Alberta was but I see it was great. I might be back that way sometime in the fall or next year I will have to keep a record of some of these places you are shooting. Great shots. Lloyd

Nice story behind this one Tim. Looks like the reward was well worth the risk. I tend to do stupid things from time to time to get a shot or ten, though I tend to worry less about my head than with the safety of my camera stuff. This is a quite nice series you have going here. Keep shooting the good stuff so we can enjoy it with you.

excellent colors and great perspective, i really like the inclusion of all the rocks at the bottom as well as the peice of sky. i think only showing a bit of sky really adds to the photo! beautiful! Kessia

Wonderful shot Tim, that is indeed an interesting color for the water. You know, I think this image was worth going through that trouble-a bit risky, glad you are okay so that you can upload even more shots. The "fresh" rocks look just amazing-esp. the wonderful tones of brown. I love the difference in color-from the deep blue reflection of the sky(?) and the wonderful pale green of the rest of the water. Not to mention the wonderful varying shapes of the rocks. And the view of the mountain in the background is wonderful-it seems that the rocks on the ledge of it reflects the color of the waters, which is another cool element. Nice shot!

This is beautiful!!!! The portrait format really makes me feel confined though. I hope you took some landscape format images at this location.

Exceptionally cool background info on this. I'm very envious and would love to have visited this spot and done the exact same thing. Keep the images coming!
