About Ezra is a very docile, smart and happy almost 4 years old dalmation.
He doesn't realize that due to bone disease he will probably have to be put to sleep before his fifth birthday.
IT IS VERY UNFAIR. It made me rediscover what it is to cry.
**************************************** UPDATE september 3th ****************

After we were told by his regular vet that the situation was worsening quickly I spent lots of time trying to find out whether there was no chance at all left. I found out about a lady specialized in junction and other bone problems that made a wonderfull discovery. A big part of the actual suffering of the dog was caused by a complication due to a vertebral problem. After she straightned his back and 2 months of thereapy we can see that he's feeling much and much better. Before we could tell by his movements and the way he behaved that he was in a lot of pain, now it is hardly noticeble... It is highly improbable that he will live to see it's 8th birthday, but as far as things go now, we are not cpunting the weeks anymore... We even dare to hope for a few more years.
XXX XXX XXX
I want to thank everybody that has expressed warmth and sympathy from the bottom of my heart.

Fantastic...pro job, the dog really looks great into the black background...as the main color of it is the white, a very nice image also because of the great lighting, strong but nice!
Best regards!

Thank you Christine for your nice words, very kind of you.
Ezra is still with us and I think we owe that to a wonderful kinesitherapist we met at the time when his regular veternary was giving up on him.

He needs a daily dose of pain killers, but responds very good to it and still enjoys his strolls as long as the distance is not too burdening.

He's already one year past the age that was supposed to be his limit and judging by his current condition I feel confident that he still has some years to come.

Russel you have a beautiful portfoleo and now you turn into a poet too... I am impressed.

Maybe me and my cam will have a go at the fantastic South African fauna and flora in the second half of this year. My son is going to study there and I think we'll seize the opportunity to visit him and the country.

Hi Sam, What a beautiful photo!!! and what a stunning looking guy. But let there be peace at heart for they do play again and live totally care free, running in long lush grass, for at the Rainbow bridge they are whole again, waitng for the day for us "their friends" to arrive. Kindest regards...Russell

No dear Shirley he's still with us, I just have been away for three weeks.
I understand what you say about losing loved pets.... it aches like hell, but it doesn't stop you when you find that special one again. Ezra is almost 6 years now, the age once predicted to be the limit, due to his diease. But special food, love, care and a therapy program is working very well for him. Right now there is no reaso to expect we eill lose him soon.

Dear Sam, what a beautiful boy he is! I noticed in a more recent post that you said you were missing him for three weeks, are you just separated, or have you lost him? Ove the years, I have lost so many beloved pets, but it does not stop one from wanting to love again. But each is unique, and some more special than others.

Ezra is doing fine under the circumstances Ana, thank you for you kind words. His veternary made a very bad diagnose before the summer and started to make implicit remarks about putting him to sleep.

After spending quite some time searching on the net we found a lady specialized in bone diseases that discovered a lot of Ezra's pain derived from his back and not his legs. After she straightned his back he become another dog. He got his natural happy 'look' back and almost acts as if nothing's the matter.

We still have to give him his daily dose of medicine against the pain every morning and we know he probably won't reach his 10th birthday (he's 4 now), but we start to think in years instead of months regarding the time we hope he will spend with us.

oh what a sweet soul Ezra is. His kindness and loyalty displayed on his face without shame. My heart goes out to you and to him. I hope you have gained a few years to enjoy with your dog. I don't know why I have probably more feeling and respect for animals... it must be the "wastes of skin" humans I've met... or maybe the fact that a dear pet such as Ezra wears his heart on his sleeve and is forever faithful... no matter what. Lovely photo, best wishes

It is wonderful to read your update and maybe there will be another breakthrough for this insidious bone disease in the next year or so. I will keep my fingers crossed. I have lost many pets through either illness or old age and it never gets easier. My Golden, who is 10 now, is just starting to show signs of arthritis late in the evening when he has been laying down for a length of time. Hope, always have hope.

hi there, Sam!

so happy to hear from You!!!

Thank YOU for Your kind visit to my Portfolio!

Congratulations for "Endless Scottish lakes and mountains" and "Boring": both with such amazing photographs!!!

>>>so happy that You were able to find a substitute therapy for Ezra's spine problem
with this lady specialized in junction and other bone problems...
is Ezra still under "shiatsu" + "acupuncture" type of treatment, Sam?!?
my family was very concerned and we all send healthy (((vibes))) for him!!!
You have an adorable Buddy Friend in a pet!
PLEASE keep us posted in Your UF website, Sam.
i always come back to "Tribute":

Regina,

Ezra has been treated by Dr. Dorit Aharon a follower of Dr. Mayat Sickenzs orthomanual osthepatic therapy methods as described at http://www.orthomanual-medicine.com/tekst5.html

She has achieved some almost miraculous results according to the stories I have come to learn from other clients.

Ezra is a magnificent dog. I know it is going to be hard to let your friend go. I have an old friend laying here on the floor next to my feet now. He's an 11-year old Lhasa Apso that gets sick a lot. The vet says he has heart problems and could go at anytime. Right now he has more good days than bad and doesn't seem to be in any pain but I'm dreading what's surely to come.

My heart goes out to you, Sam.

You are very welcome Sam. I think I am going to have to take a portrait of my trusty friend myself!! Marlo, a Rhodesian Ridgeback. She never leaves my side when I am at home. (Sometimes driving me nuts cuz I do almost trip over her) Someone new comes to my house she puts herself between me and the other person. Hey, is there a place on this site for beloved pets?!?!?! Just curious. Take Ezra for some long walks, some running, and LOTS of petting an hugs.

Sam, I am so sorry about Ezra's disease. He is very blessed to have you as his owner.

If this is any comfort, I don't think Ezra understands death well enough to fear it, but he does understand what it feels like to be loved and cared for, because he's had you in his life. :-)

Dear Sam,

Ezra is shown in a very proud and dignified way. Your wonderful photo is a fitting tribute to your beloved pal.

May you enjoy whatever time you have left together.

Regards,
Angelo.

Very nice composition Sam, i liked the effect you've added to make this background, and the contrast between the black background and white Ezra is really nice, very well done, regards,
