Joann,
thats correct. Extrude fillter will create blocks out of the image and produce extruded scene as if the image had been craved into bricks and pulled forward.
you should try it in PS.
regards, ken.

ken Thanks for directing me to this image. While I do not care for it as much as the other with ehe Polo Players, I do like that you would offer me the opportunity to see your "experiment". Perhaps without all the bumpy texture, this might have been a bit more pleasing to the eye. Now that you have brought me here, I must ask that you explain the "extrude filter" Is that what gave the bumpy texture? Thanks for the lessons!!! Blessings to you and yours.

Hello George,
Wish you a nice and relaxing holidays.
Thank you for inviting me to provide my opinion on that image.
I saw that - in the first instance I thought - a nice image. But it didn't make me say 'My god, its beautiful'. Looking closer, there are so many objects at the background which could be subjects themselves.
I do not know why this person took this photo - perhaps he was just looking at the statue and nothing else. But the cluttered background actually makes the image more interesting than the overall images itself. Its them which give some life to the image than the main subject.
For me, What attracts me in a photo is its asthetic beauty first. No wonder I am a landscape nut.
But thats only me. As we all know, photo can evoke so many different feelings apart from just beauty. And we also know that, it does not evoke the same feelings of appreciation in everyone viewing image. You might think its gorgeous, and someone else will think that its mundane and ordinary ! Once in a while some image comes along and captivates everyone's attention and evoke the same feeling in all of them. But they are very few and far between.
I have been fooled many times just like you, here, in this instance. Many a times I come accross someone's portifolio and felt, "man this chap is a marvelous photographer". But when I look at the comments he generaly recieved - it was appaling under appreciation of his work.
So comming back to your original question, its just one of those things in life which we can not explain. What appeals to you as great beauty may not do the same in others. I would take it as just ONE OF THOSE THINGS AND MOVE ON.
Hope this lengthy explanation sheds some light into your thoughts. I would like to know what would be your response.
regards. ken.

Ken, this is very interesting, more a painting that a photo. The Idea is great and I would be part of that world. You chose beautiful colors to portray it and it has an oriental feel to it. Alison

Yes, Ken. I think it is just too much. There's so much going on in the image that it's just too busy. I have a terrible time making "concept" images come out right. In my case, the explanation is often better than the picture. Thank goodness for Usefilm. It costs us nothing to try! On another subject-- I will be away for a few days and look forward to my return and more interesting photos and comments. In the meantime, I invite you to look at http://www.usefilm.com/image/523645.html It is another instance among many of what I think is a gorgeous photo that seems to garner little or no interest. Is it my eye, or what? I would appreciate your reaction. --george
