Good to see England has good taste in foods, he says as he sits here sipping an English ale.

Well pity yes, many places are now only... hotels and nothing else. We just try to be in places the people - tourists does not go so you can find peaceful and also nice places like very small islands and villagies near the mountains of Greece. Bye!

I agree about the local and I do try to buy local produce as that seems a logically a good thing - why import strawberries from 1000s of miles away? However it seems that consumers have demands that retailers try to meet - or is this the other way round? Before our children were born my husband and I would frequently holiday in Greece and loved the way one was invited into the kitchen of the restaurant to see what was there waiting to be cooked. Sadly the last time we visited that was not the tradition (Rethymnon) - all had changed and there were neon signs outside. Ahh change happens perhaps a reason to not revisit a place- perhaps only in ones memory?

Tesco is the biggest UK supermarket chain currently. My husband works in the food industry and we love to see all the different products and styles of presentation on our trips back to the UK. It amused my son and I to see the US style products for sale hence the photo. We actually bought that night chilled ready meals of Indian cuisine. The ready meal market in the UK is HUGE and of good quality - this is something that isnt as yet popular over here in the USA. Now I guess that may have been too much information!

Excellent shot, Gabrielle. I see the U.S. flag on the packaging on several shelves, but doesn't the TESCO brand belong to one of the largest grocery chains in the UK? :-)) Now, you'll have me looking in our grocery stores for cheese and onion loaded potato skins.

Tasty however as you write, we need something different to taste! We need to taste something local! Well.... world united economy. I don't think this is a good idea, even for the big companies. We will see at the future Gabrielle. Good shot and the light reflection cover little bit the name of the product.
