Rona, please don't appologize for having an opinion and defending it with vigor and passion. Notice the double "S-curve" in Johan's version. Notice the balance between the top and bottom of the photo. My tastes run towards the classical rules of composition. I don't think we need a truce. The "war" is ended. I think we both came out of it better people.

Ok Q, I think we need to call a truce, so to speak. First off I never in any way called you a sexist pig, and I apologize if it seemed like it. I understand where you are coming from. I guess all I was saying is that it was nice to see such a cute girl not touched up. Thats all. You are right, if she were a model and looking for work the first thing they would probably tell her is to trim the waist.
The fashion industry is hard and cruel sometimes, but that is a part of being a model and yes if they want jobs they have to sacrifice. And for those that are in the business, that is what they look for and there is nothing wrong with that. That is what sells, it's a part of it. I'll admit it, I enjoy looking at a well chiseled body, male or female, but when I get to know someone personaly I look at personality and attitude, not just looks. That is not a big deal to me. There is beauty all around us in different forms. But coming from the business side I understand where you are coming from. Beauty and sex sells, plain and simple as that.
I myself almost went into that business but my road did not go in that direction. Don't think I don't have my regrets, I love the fashion industry, everything about it, but it didnt work out for me.
I have posted photos of myself and I am a chunky kind of girl. Not hugh, but I carry my weight well and I am not ashamed of it. But then again I am not a model and I ain't selling anything...lol. In some of my photos you can even see my c-sec scare on my belly. But to me that is ok, its a part of me and it doesn't bother me. Now don't get me wrong, I may not like my body but Im not ashamed of it. It's a personal thing I guess. Anyway, lets call a truce and leave it be. I enjoy looking at Mr. P's work. He does an excellent job and he can make it work no matter what. I look forward to seeing it when I am on here. Thanks and my apologies once again, Rona
PS: I like your work also... :)

I didn't take offense at being called a sexist pig (to paraphrase). I only took offense at the view that photographs are "real". That is a dangerous view, because it means the self-esteme gets involved. Too many people have been destroyed because they don't know or can't deal with this. While we're all here "keeping it real", did anyone think what kind of photos this girl wants to see of herself ? What is her self-esteme and body maturity level ?
Fashion is a sexist business and I'm talking business. Telling a model she needs to slim down is a fact of life in the fashion industry. If she was a model, my view is you bite the bullet and tell her she needs to reshape her body, then have her not get any jobs.

A woman's G-spot is not between her legs, it's between her eyes and/or her boobs...
Same goes for looks.

What is real ? What's that got to do with photography ? Too many women think that what attracts a man to them is their looks.

Apparently P took the full length photo because he see's something you don't. He is into keeping it real, you are not. To each his own. But, you are right, everyone has a right to their own opinion. But why sit and ridecule the beautiful girl because of "her" beauty or babyfat? Whatever it may be.
You like the curvier women, good for you and P uses several, good for him. But in this case, why mess with perfection? Wheather she is a face or hand model or whatever, she is real, he keeps it real and that is what people want. Men have a tendency to fantasize of having what is in magazine , all fixed and fake. Women have a tendency to want to be like that. Magazines and models in all have a big influence on us and not all are perfect.
This is an imperfect world and not all of us have the slimming curvier body that we would like to have. We have what we have and we work with it. Most girls would die to have a body like that. But that is what the media does to us.
To me if you can pull of sexy than do it and use it the best you can. No matter what shape or size. Men and women both. Just my opinion...

Who said she was a model? Unfortunately in USeFilm there are limited numbers of categories to choose from.
I would add a Glamour category, which is nor fashion nor nudes... So sometimes the category could be misleading.

Fat and slim are relative values. I'm 5'8", 145lb and I'm a giant in my community. I'm looking at her as a model, not as a friend or date. I'm not saying she's useless as a model, I know how I could use her. You have to remember, Johan and I are in a different market. It would not be right for me to be less than honest with my opinion and lead her into the wrong market. That's why I want to know what her market is.

Q. the photos u see here are not always what I use for my models. Sometimes these are my preferred ones and the ones I post on UseFilm.
You guys are talking about her as if she was fat or something was wrong with her body and therefore it would be impossible for her to get work. That's nonsense.
She is super cute, has a perfect face and great hair. That's all that matters sometimes. It's not the always those perfect bodies, that, as you know, are not so perfect after all, since EVERYF**KING model in the world has hours of retouching to make her look perfect.
It probably took Johan 2 minutes to slim her down. You can't do magic, unless at least 90% of the "perfection" is there, so stop being such a GUY and start thinking with your top head.

So let me in, what's her secret ? Is she only a face and hand model ? Is the taste different in whatever she's doing that likes this body type ? Why did she want this full length photo ? Why did you take this full length photo ? I have certain tastes (I like Johan's version) but I can accept that that's not everyone's taste and she can make money with what she's got.

I agree Johan, but it's not up to me to give it to her. I try to keep my models real. Not for me, but for them.
If they ask me to liquify them a little, I would, but in this girl's case, she is 19 and telling her she needs a "slimming job" would shatter her. Trust me.
Besides, too much retouching loses credibility for the photographer and his models. Now, looking at your work, I don't know who has a real, hot body or who was "slimmed down" in Photoshop... :-/
In my opinion, she is cute as a button, she doesn't need any enhancements.
