About This is the first time I took the advice and made some changes to an image and uploaded it again. Not sure if I like revisiting the same image but thought I would give the suggestions a try. Also, I usually don't like to change an image too much in PS. Basically, I took out the man on who was on the right and also an object on the left. I think it helps the composition of the image and eliminates some of the distractions. The original is still in my portfolio.

the composition here looks great. I didn't see the original yet, I don't know if it is still in your portfolio, I'll dig.

Yeah, I have to agree with not using PS TOO much but I saw Biliana's comment on the first one and I must admit this works better. The man was a bit of a distraction so now this shot has a stronger moody feel to it. Really like it. Very good work, Mark

Thanks... I agree about PS but I try to do most of the work with the camera as I take the photo but there are times where some processing can help an image...

I didn't see theoriginal one, but this is perfect! I don't have nothing against using photoshop; didn't the artists use the erase? The camera is just a manner to reach a goal.
GOnna see the original

Well Paul, that will show you to go taking suggestions..your rating has dropped from the first one...lol. It's true, but I'm just teasing about this, because I did this on one in my portfolio and even though the comments on the second version were resoundingly that everyone liked it better, my rating dropped. Go figure. I like both a LOT. I was in love with the first.

Such a great picture - love the lines and non-conformist way this photo comes off with the center being off on the top of The Lueve (spelling) which I like and there is so much direction in the picture. Really a great comp.

Mira Novianti   {K:592} 11/4/2004
This is best B/W even though it didnt show perfectly the top of the pyramid but it is still lovely to look at it. You struck my eyes this time with this photo.

Excellent capture Paul, great composition and lighting. The tones are wonderful and the silhouette of the arch gives me the feeling of walking behind these guys in the passage. Good work Paul, regards.

Great shot you have in your portfolio .. this is one i like very much .. tonality, composition .. marvellous ! And you have 4 different "people events" in there .. a rushed person, a waiting person, a couple and in the left someone doing a mystery act ..

Great shot !
I will be back to have a look at your portfolio, meanwhile added you to my friends list !

regards, Peter

Hi Paul; well it works well this way-- very nice lighting-- and the large heavy black sides and top certainly contain the light parts giving it a somewhat forboding character. It makes me think of George Orwell's book "1984", ie the 4 major ministry buildings. Cheers. Craig

I have not seen the original version, Paul, but your "Le Passage 2", besides being an excellent photo brings back fond memories. I won't analyse your photo as you are the expert and I just an onlooker, but I will say that it appeals to me beyond the memoties it evokes.
Thank you for your generous comment on my "Traffic yawn". Someone has pointed out to me that the car in front of the yawner's carries an insciption saying www.traffic.com I had not even noticed.
Regards,
Rafi

This is really great Paul, the natural frame is fantastic, I didn't see the original, but you had a very good eye to see the composition in this way, I like the BW tones and the strong darkness, it's very suggestive. Bye Max

I always think the quality of the image is the first click, the adjustment is to give an extra touch, am sure this one was perfect techniques shot, the elaborated is a fine retouch, wonderful composition. Saeed

Dear Paul,

you made a different cropping here ;-) remember my posting.
nice idea to have the person in the middle more focussed but off-centered a tad. sharpness levels are excellent. upright format is wisely chosen.
good rework.
take care,
thilo

Still good PJ. If you have the tools to rework it a little why not use them. I also admire those who can frame and crop in camera. I think that is still best, but the observer never cares how easy or difficult the image was to obtain. The observer only knows how the image looks now to him/her self.

I checked out the original and I found it a good idea to crop as you did...

helps to concentrate on the (in my opinion) main interest

Cheers,
Verena

I understand and applaud your reluctance to meddle with an original photo. It was fine as it was. This is only "better" by being further removed from the reality that caught your eye and that you captured so well. But, hey, you made a nice job of it, and it certainly works well as a finished image.

Maria José Barres   {K:11276} 9/4/2004
I think that you have make well in the change.
I have seen your two photos and i like very much this but the reflection on the left (in another shot) liked me.
Well done.
Greetings.
