About The Pecherskaja Lavra (Cave Monastery)is located on the hill above the Dniepr river in Kiev and is the oldest monastery in Ukraine and probably the oldest of all former Soviet Union. For long time has been the greatest church of the christiandom. Nowadays is a museum while service are held in the "Lower Monastery" where in the underground cave are buried the mummified bodies of the monks of XV century.
