It pays indeed mostly, because the old truths are still true. The old half german half english imperative of Sternberg "zoom mit da feet" has survived up 'til today !

Thank you very much, Bertram! Yes, this lens is very good indeed, but unfortunately not so fast, so recently I bought a Nikon 180 mm f.2.8 which is absolutely great and since it doesn't have all those frills of the newest zooms, it is also very reasonably priced. After much thinking, even in digital I converted to fixed focals ( with a few exceptions as candid photos and travelling light )....believe me, there is no comparison in term of resolution and color rendition, of course if it doesn't bother you to move on foot ....I also bought a Nikon 50 mm. f. 1.4 and a Nikon 85 mm. f. 1,8 with which I fell in love and use mostly for portraits. After all I'm of the older school and sometimes it pays.... My warmest regards, Antonella

There are today virtually a hundred varieties of the canna... thanks to the Dutch and others... Growing cannas from seed can be quite rewarding and a lot of fun. Nick the dark hard outer coat of the canna seed just until you see the white layer beneath. Start the seeds out on a soak of hot water and let them sit a day or two. Sow the seeds in a good seed medium and place in a warm spot to germinate. Do not let them dry out. Plant your cannas in the full sun. If your cannas are stunted and do not bloom... they may not be getting enough sunlight. Cannas can be planted outside in the early spring. Plant them 5-7 cm deep. After planting, keep the rhizomes moist but not wet. When new growth appears they can be watered more heavily and tolerate wetter soil.
Enjoy!

A beautiful composition with wonderful color. The canna lily grows in my yard and around my neighborhood. It is very popular because it is very hardy and produces such showy blooms. Being related to the banana, the canna plant has edible parts, but I have never tried it. :-) Regards --george
