Thanks Randy. I feel stupid that I didn't notice the halo in this image before and did submit it without looking at it very well. Normally I'm rather keen on these sort of distractions and do work on it the same way you did discribe. I will look better at an image like this next time I submit one. Great action shot Harry,one can almost hear the blades digging in as he's rounding the corner. A fine job of stop action of the skater and background blur just enough to impart sense of movement.
I hope I'm not being presumpuous,(student advising teacher)but I noted some halo effect,possibly due to sharpening or other adjustments, and took the picture to fiddle with his lower right leg and arm. When I've seen this halo on some of my pics,I've had some success by using the cloning tool(set at 'darken' or 'lighten' as is the case, and running it along next to the halo to remove it. Randy

Dear Harry,
you have such a great history of speed-skaters... finally they are captured in a decent way =)
VERY good sports shot. Lots of dynamics, and while the subject itself is very sharp, the background blurrs out nicely.
excellent shot with vivid colors.

Effect van de klapschaats mooi in beeld gebracht. Verder is Erbens krachtsexplosie goed te zien: hij staat ahw helemaal bol, elke spier in actie en de longen vol lucht. Prachtige opname. Ted
