Eric, thank you for your interesting story. I've never heard such a kind of treatment of flowers before and it is very particular. Thanks! Lydeke

Thanks everybody's comments. Lydeke, ginger flower (not sure if it is called; Friend, Teunis Haveman may know the original name, he is an expert on flowers) is an inexpensive flower in my city. I am sure this kind of flower would never been seen in high class hotels or restaurants. This flower is only available during the Summer and early Autumn. The smell of the flowers is very nice (to us of course). When you buy it in the market, it looks like a spear, a long stem and a head, esp when the leaves are removed. It is interesting that when you buy the flowers, the shoppers will remove the centre part of the flowerhead and split the stem for you. They say that it will help the flowers grow better. Back home, you have to dip the flowerhead into the water and stay in water for a while. In order to let the flowers blossom, you have to put water into the flowerhead once a while during the day. You will see the flowers blossom in the evening when you buy in the morning. Blossoming all over in the next morning, my wife will pick the flowers into the blue bowl. Another layer of flowers will grow again in a day. But these flowers are very fragil; cannot stand inside room with airconditioner on. Thanks for looking. --Eric
