Taken during my holiday in Sicily. The ascent of the Etna was a remarkable experience. The landscape we encountered seemed almost extraterrestrial... I hope this image captures a little bit of this impression.
Yes Peter, there was indeed a small eruption, just four days after this picture was taken. We could see the glowing stream of lava from the plane one our way home. I heared that they monitor the Etna's activity pretty intensively, so I hope our ascent was not (too) dangerous :)
Wow, isn't that dangerous ? Was there no new activity recently ? Your shot is surely very clear through the fumes .. great documentary shot ! regards, Peter
