I took a picture of one of these near the beach and have been wondering what kind of spider it is. Do you know? I couldn't get near this close to the one I shot so it's not near as sharp as this one. Excellent macro Beverly. Regards.

Richard, I shoot digital, so the lens was what came on my camera. I was only about 4 feet from this monster (6" top to bottom) at eye level. Also this was hand held. Thanks everyone for the kind words..I still get the creeps when I look at this.

What lens and at what distance did you shoot? Nice DOF, how did you get that with f 4.0? Incredible!

I have a terrible fear of spiders as well, Bev. To get a picture like this I would have needed at least a 300mm zoom to be far enough away to move fast if he did! Well done.
