About Yes, autumn's well and truly on its way! These gorgeously red leaves were taken about half a mile from my home, on one of my favourite short walks ~ with the emphasis on 'short'! I'm afraid I'm not a great walker! I believe God gave us two feet ~ one for the accelerator and one for the brake! But I know I ought to walk more ~ and, when I do, I kind of enjoy it! Especially all the things I can take pictures of! ;>))

And now I've got my 1GB card ~ well!! I now have a daily limit of at least 500 shots!! Cool!

Have a great autumnal day everyone! I'm off on my day off!

Best regards, Chris

P.S. These leaves were NOT enhanced in Photoshop. The colours are just as they came out of the camera!

Chris,
Very nice color and steady image. Did you use any polarizer to get this image for the color satuaration? I like the idea of frame too. cool work.

Good Evening Mr S!!! :-)

Have just had a wonderful time viewing your recent images and they are all a total feast for the eyes! I also so enjoy your "abouts" :-)

Chris ... before I comment on this frame ... please understand that I do respect artistic freedom and understand what your intention was for using this kind of frame for this specific image.

Now my humble opinion ... I think the frame is too much. I envisage this with a very wide black border, which will accentuate the reds of the leaves beautifully.

And I will leave you with this very un-original thought - luckily taste differs :-))

Mrs C :-)

With such naturally brilliant reds, I wonder why you felt they needed that complicated and to my mind rather distracting frame?

Great colors Chris,
and the shapes of the leaves are really nice, not sure what they are.

Don't you love the reds of autumn? We have a few trees that turn and they are so pretty!

I like how you did your frame, very nice,
Lori :)

Yes but how many batteries do you need to take 500 shots? Yippie fall!! I love all the colors of fall and I hope to catch them just half as well as this. You are a master!

Great colors Chris and the sharpness amazes me. you don't have ED glass according to your lens discription yet your lens seem to perform as though they are. Enjoy the day off.

Thanks for the comment on my latest upload, Douglas! I've tried to post an answer five times and it won't take, so I'll try one more time!!!

Here are the answers to your questions!!

1. The house is ours as our church doesn't have a manse. I prefer it that way as at least I'll have somewhere to live when I retire!! The story of how we ever came to buy a house in the first place is a story in itself, and the purchase of the one we're in now is no less remarkable! All I can say is that God has provided!!

2. Yes, it should have read 'God' ~ a slip of the right index finger I'm afraid. Thanks for pointing it out ~ I've now corrected it.

3. I very much hope that in some small way my images bring glory to God! That would certainly be my intention! After all, He created everything I shoot ~ either directly or indirectly! (Every sunset's a divine painting in my opinion!!) I also use a lot of my photo's in the course of my work ~ e.g. for creating cards for the sick and bereaved, posters to advertise events and to make people think, and for use in PowerPoint presentations. (Please see examples on the following url's?

http://www.pbase.com/moorlands/christian_powerpoint_slides and?

http://www.pbase.com/moorlands/my_christian_posters

4. This pastor certainly DOES take a regular day off!! For two reasons: i. My wife deserves to see something of me every bit as much as my congregation!! And, ii. When I didn't, I got stressed out and ended up with chest pains!! Besides, God "rested" at the end of His working week, and the Master made a point of getting away from the crowds every once in a while so that He could relax and recharge. If He needed it then so do I ~ and every other pastor!!

Best regards, Chris

Thanks for your comment, Brett!

And, yes, the frame was meant to be like that! If I want a frame perfectly centred it's very easy to do in Photoshop. But with this shot, I wanted to place the emphasis on the more 'perfect' leaves. So I left a half inch border round the top and sides but made the hole in the middle retain a 2:3 aspect, if that makes sense.

I know my borders can sometimes be a little distracting, but I like experimentin! I don't like getting too set in my eays!! Besides, it depends how long you look at an overall image, doesn't it? If you only stop for a second or two, the frame is going to distract you. If you pause a little longer, you've got the time to enjoy both the photo and the frame!!

Thanks again!

Kind regards, Chris

Chris,

Stunning shot, however the framing seems a little off balance which redices the impact of the photo..

I love the photo, perhaps the frame was meant to be like that...

but i always say... Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder... :)

Pastor Spracklen,

1. Re: "Taken about half a mile from 'my' home" ... Is your home yours or the congregaton's?

2. Re: "I believe 'got' gave us two feet" ... Is that supposed to be 'God' instead of got?

3. Do you take pictures for your glory or 'got's?

4. "I'm off on my day off" ... Is that correct grammar and does any real pastor have a day off?

Best of Regards!

'Sunset man ~

P.S. As for the image itself ... no comment!

Fantastic RED!!! I think that this pic would benefit from a more simple frame though, the image itself being quite busy?
