Thanks for your wonderful comments. These are not excuses for not taking a better picture. My wife and I got lazy and did not trim our roses back. This rose was at the max. height for my tripod(about 4')and over my front lanscaping log fence. I was only able to get one leg of the tripod on the ground to steady leaning over the fence.. I'm also lazy and used the camera's auto setting for the ISO and you see what it chose. The leaf on the lower left was modified (very badly)in Paint Shop PRO because it was over bright. Still ain't got the hang of it. I did use the unsharp Mask and Median filter to try and improve my poor camera work.

Thanks agin for your comments and I will try to improve on my camera work. This what Usefilm is all about.

Another one - but another beauty. I have this beautiful bouquet of all sorts of flowers, but between the dull weather, my slightly blurred vision [having to use old glasses] and slightly fuzzy dizzy feeling - I cannot get a decent shot of anything - what a waste

Good morning Peter,
first of all I want to thank you for the many appreciative comments you have sent to me on my pictures here in usefilm.
I take it that you accept an honest opinion and advice concerning this rose picture...First of all it does not appear to be sharp on my monitor, secondly it is obviously OVERsharpened, and third it is very pixly. I suggest you use ISO 100 and a tripod and selfrelease. The colors are very nice and natural, the composition is good, too. You have plenty of light and sunshine in Texas, so there is NO problem for you.Hoping you do not feel offended by my comment and advice to you.By the way, I love roses and am looking forward to an other TEXAS ROSE picture.
Kind regards,
Gustav

Looks like your rose season is quite a bit longer than ours, Peter, but you keep coming up with beautiful ones!
Dave.
