I am the opposite of you - film background learning digital!!! If you really enjoy bw (looks that way) then you may want to look at setting yourself up. All you need is a small room which you can black out windows with thick garbage bags and you can work in there at night with the lights out. It wouldn't cost a whole lot and most stuff can be bought on ebay!! Darkroom techniques can be learnt from any book from your library and it is SOOOOOO MUCH FUN - full control of true bw prints. It maybe impossible for you but it could also save you heaps and give alot of pleasure as well. Cheers.

Thanks for the advice Amanda. I've recently purchased a load of Ilford Delta to try and have a roll in my elan II as we speak. To be honest, I've come from a digital background and I am now finally learning to work with film. I have a Canon 9900F scanner which is a flatbed but does give me the facility to scan negs, slidea and medium format negs. Obviously its not as good as some professional scanners but it does an excellent job and I can scan the negs in at 3200dpi. This particular photo was scanned from the photograph. Unfortunatley, I don't have access to a dark room so have to send my films of to a lab. I'm using Club 35 in London as I found they give me much better results than Fuji Lab. I'm hoping to finish my first roll of Delta shortly and will post some work when it comes back.
Thanks again
Howie

Beautiful shot Howie - I am not familiar with the characteristics of Neopan 100 (use fuji neopan 1600 which is great). I usually use Delta 100 but I like what I see here. The detail is very good, the highlights a little hot but hte overall tone is silky. You've done a good job of what would have been a tricky bw exposure. Is this scanned from a neg or a print? If you can traditionally print it in the darkroom you'll be able to save those highlights by burning them in - it will be almost imperceptible. Give Ilford Delta 100 a go - it maybe a little more but it is a divine film. Cheers.
