Thank you Roger....The D70 does not "shoot in b/w, therefore yes...I played with it quite a bit in photoshop. Desaturated, to remove the color, and though I really don't remember exactly what I did, I find that the desaturated image usually needs a little "juice" via boosting the contrast a bit. I would have stayed with film (still have my N90S) if not for the fact that I was spending a small fortune in developing costs! Thanks for taking notice, Roger....love your stuff! ..Brad

I saw you entered this in the "Best of 2004" project, and I agree it is one of your very finest. As a film user (still), I find something slightly strange about B&W produced by digital cameras, not unpleasant, you understand, but noticeably different. Has this had some PS treatment? Or is this the digital B&W look? Anyway, it's a powerful and evocative image.

Extraordinary in its kind! I love the distribution of light throughout the image and the moderate grain. I like the peer at the right, which adds some mistery to this image. Congratulations with this remarkable work! 7. Regards - Armen

This is such an outstanding picture and mood,I love it...the nowhere leading peer and the bridge remind me of a painting of Dali,it has a very surrealistic touch. The bridge and the tones add lot to this atmosphere, and if I imagine it without any foreground,it might look totally surreal.Superb photo...and a great about...then I?ll take the hope.... :) Best regards,Ursula

Hi Brad,
great "depth" composing. leads the eye straight into to background (and in the sea) =) While I like the grain in the sky, some parts of the foreground are a bit bold. good chouce of BW here. well done! take care, thilo

It's a wonderful image. Great comp. Love the background. To be honest, I had mixed emotions with the bridge. The poles look razorsharp and more like a computer animation. The sharpnes, I guess comes from lens and camera. However, I watched that for a while and I think it's a great contrast to the water and background. It's so hard to produce a great image. This is one of them. C.

This is a superb piece of work Brad. It has an overall IR quality especially the horizon and the way the tops of the pier posts glow which also tends to lend a 3D effect to the pier itself. The water looks like sand with a futuristic city to the far off right. The tonal range is excellent. All in all I think this is one of your best photos.

I agree with Gayle, that the pier has a surreal and 3D effect. This pier is a place for meditation and for stop running from A to B, therefor the bridge to the right is great for me because it?s the opposite - no possibility to stop. This image is excellent Bradley.

hello to pure talent... to silence that does not have to prove itself...to lonely isolated walks in dreams...A concept I always loved is to see photos with ways, staircases or docks etc that lead nowhere...as in this way the only reason to follow them is to reach dreamland....777

Brad, the central theme is nice and the bridge to the right too but the extraneous poles and the fence in the foreground casue the eye to wander about too much. Maybe a longer lens removing a lot of the peripheral objects would have allowed a stronger image.
